Little Rotters Judged In Changeworks Composting Competition
Lots of ‘little rotters’ from Edinburgh and East Lothian gathered at The Royal Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh on Thursday 14 June 2007 for the judging of the first Changeworks ‘What Rot!’ Composting Competition.
Twelve local schools and nurseries were represented on the day, whilst a further six hopeful entries had already arrived by post. The judges, amazed by the high quality of the compost and the creativity of the displays, found the judging to be a very difficult task.
After careful consideration and much deliberation their decisions were announced as follows:
The best compost recipe display was won by The Corner House Day Nursery, who received £50 in gardening vouchers for their super display of a compost bottle.
The Changeworks ‘What Rot!’ Composting Trophy and £100 of gardening vouchers went to Towerbank Primary School, Edinburgh.
The Changeworks ‘What Rot!’ Worm Composting Trophy was received by Yester Primary School, East Lothian, who also received £100 of gardening vouchers for use in their school grounds. Congratulations to them all!
”The Waste Education Team at Changeworks would like to say a big thank you to all the schools that contributed and attended on the day,” said Education Officer Kathleen Kirkness. “Thanks to their enthusiasm it was a very successful, fun-filled afternoon and not a rotten day at all!”
The Changeworks ‘What Rot!’ Composting Competition will enter its second year after the school holidays.
