Our Affordable Warmth team give free, confidential and impartial energy and fuel billing advice and advocacy to households.
We can:
- Provide you with advice, information and support over the phone, mail and email
- Visit you in your home
- Meet you at an organised event
What you can expect from us
- Professional, impartial and free energy saving advice, and support to help you stay warm in your home at an affordable cost.
- Impartial advice and support in making the most of what your energy supplier can offer you – including switching to a different supplier, or alternative ways of paying off a fuel debt.
- When available, help to access funding for improvements to your home that will help you heat your home at a more affordable cost.
- Support in talking to your fuel supplier / landlord / installers to make sure you don’t miss out on any services you could benefit from.
- Referral to other organisations who can provide appropriate services to you.
- A respectful, fair and honest service, which is easy for you to access whatever your personal circumstances.
What we ask from you
- To provide honest and complete information to the best of your knowledge to help us provide the best possible advice and support for you.
- Working with the support and guidance of a Changeworks advisor, take a certain level of responsibility for resolving any issues or problems you may have with your energy use/bills.
- To attend meetings and appointments at agreed times. Please let us know in advance if you cannot attend an agreed meeting.
- Changeworks staff has the right to work without fear of aggressive behaviour, assault or abuse. Any threatening behaviour towards staff may result in a withdrawal of service and possible legal action.
Confidentiality
We keep a record of your details, your enquiry and any advice given and action taken. You can request to see the information we hold about you at any time by contacting one of our advisors. See our privacy policy for more details.
If you have a carer or receive support from a friend, family member, social worker or another person, and you would like us to liaise with them, please tell your advisor or note this on referrals. Likewise, if you would prefer us to not communicate with them regarding your case, please tell your advisor.
Complaints
Should you have a complaint about our service, we will attempt to address it swiftly and efficiently. In the first instance please tell your advisor about any problems. You can also contact us free on 0800 870 8800.
