Solar panels delivering free energy for householder in Forres

Carol had a solar panel and battery system installed in her terraced home in Forres this year.

This renewable technology was delivered by Moray Council in partnership with Changeworks as part of the Scottish Government’s funded Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Schemes (EES:ABS) programme.

Carol found out about this scheme via a letter form her council. She then talked about it with her neighbours, who had previously benefited from the programme. Carol decided to proceed with the works based on her neighbour’s recommendation, and because the scheme would fund the install.

Carol said she was initially uncertain about what to expect but felt that the contractors fully supported her through every step of the installation process. They explained all the important information to her and respected her property.

In fact, Carol feels that “there is nothing to get used to” with a new solar system.

Carol said she was “very pleased with the solar panels” due to the financial saving. She has seen a positive difference in her electricity bills with her monthly direct debit decreasing by £40.

For anyone with the chance to take part in an EES: ABS scheme, Carol recommends. She said: “It is well worth while.”
