Two home energy scotland advisors behind a stall

Changeworks delivers Home Energy Scotland in the South East and Highlands and Islands on behalf of the Scottish Government and Energy Saving Trust.

Our Home Energy Scotland advice centres provide free, impartial expert advice to thousands of people every month, helping them to keep warmer in their homes for less. Advisors are also on hand to support households with renewable technology advice, what financial assistance they might be entitled to and more.

Through in-depth conversations with service users, Home Energy Scotland advisors tailor their advice to positively influence energy efficient behaviour, saving customers money on their energy bills.

As well as offering tailored behavioural change advice, Home Energy Scotland identify funding opportunities for households seeking to install energy efficiency measures.

Home Energy Scotland’s impressive referral records – for the Warmer Homes Scotland programme, Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Schemes, or Home Energy Scotland’s own interest-free loan – have helped householders fund everything from loft insulation to air source heat pumps.

What our Home Energy Scotland teams have achieved

We’re incredibly proud of our Home Energy Scotland teams and the work they do. Every customer receives tailored advice and support specific to their own home and situation.

Over the 2024-25 financial year, the team achieved:

  • 176,959 tonnes lifetime CO2e reduction
  • 37,249 unique householder engagements
  • 2,989 households supported with renewables, energy storage and energy efficiency specialist advice
  • 3,457 Warmer Homes Scotland referrals

Warmer Homes Scotland: Help for those who need it most

Over this period our Home Energy Scotland teams referred 3,457 households to Warmer Homes Scotland.

Warmer Homes Scotland is the Scottish Government’s national fuel poverty scheme, providing eligible households with up to £10,000-worth of energy-saving home improvements.

Our teams have been referring households to the scheme for a number of years, helping more and more people access the life-changing support that Warmer Homes Scotland offers.

When the programme started in 2015/16, only 2% of Home Energy Scotland South East customers and 4.8% of Home Energy Scotland Highlands and Islands customers were referred for the programme.
