Event: Heat in Buildings Bill

Date: Thursday 24th October 2024

Time: 3pm – 6pm

Location: Changeworks, Orchard Brae House, 30 Queensferry Road, Edinburgh EH4 2HS

In its Programme for Government for the year ahead, the Scottish Government stated it would introduce the Heat in Buildings Bill (HiBB).

The Heat in Buildings Bill urgently needs to be passed as it is key to meet Scotland’s net zero targets, it will set out laws for how we heat Scotland’s buildings, as well as how energy efficient the buildings need to be, thereby, providing certainty for homeowners and the retrofit sector.

This event, part of our Changeworks Connects series, brings together speakers from across the sector to discuss the HiBB set out the current state of play and expectations from the incoming legislation.

Join us at our Edinburgh office to hear from Gillian Campbell from Existing Homes Alliance, alongside representatives from Vattenfall and Changeworks. The full agenda for the event will be circulated nearer the time.

There will be time for questions as part of the session, followed by networking and discussions with complementary beverages.

This event is free but spaces are limited. Please confirm your attendance by reserving a space below.

The Heat in Buildings Bill is part of the Scottish Government’s wider response to the climate crisis. It will include provisions to prohibit the use of certain direct emission heating systems after 2045 and to require certain properties to meet a minimum standard of energy efficiency.

The Bill will give Ministers powers to make regulations specifying how these measures are to be implemented including powers to ensure that the requirements on building owners are fair and proportionate.
