Winter Heating Payment replaced the Cold Weather Payment in Scotland.

It’s a single yearly payment of £58.75 per year to help with fuel bills over winter.

Who can get Winter Heating Payment?

If you already get Cold Weather Payment, you’ll be able to get Winter Heating Payment.

You may qualify if you get:

  • Pension Credit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Universal Credit
  • Support for Mortgage Interest.

How do I get the Winter Heating Payment?

Payments should be made automatically. Social Security Scotland will send you a letter or email to let you know if you qualify.

If you think you qualify but haven’t had any contact, you may need to apply.

When do I get the Winter Heating Payment?

You should automatically get the payment between December and February. Unlike with the Cold Weather Payment, it doesn’t matter how cold it is.
