Changeworks Chief Executive Teresa Bray to retire

Our Chief Executive, Teresa Bray, has announced that she intends to retire later this year.

An accountant by trade, Teresa has dedicated her career to the third sector. From housing associations in London, to Finance Director at the Scottish Council for Voluntary Associations, she has spent the last 14 years leading Changeworks in its mission of making low-carbon living a reality for all.

Teresa is a passionate advocate for delivering carbon savings and supporting people in fuel poverty.  Under her stewardship, Changeworks has delivered tangible action in response to the climate emergency in Scotland. The organisation has focused on delivering effective, on the ground carbon reduction services through expanding across Scotland, creating novel approaches to service delivery and growing its consultancy and fuel poverty services, all the while supporting more energy efficiency and decarbonisation measures are installed in people’s homes.

Teresa said: “It has been an extraordinary privilege to lead Changeworks for over 14 years, but having turned 60 last year I wish to explore new avenues.

“The organisation has grown tremendously over the last 14 years, and as we are about to embark on our new three-year strategy, I believe this is the time for someone new to come in and take Changeworks on that journey.

“Changeworks has a strong staff team and is financially robust, so is well-placed to move forward in tackling the climate emergency. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chief Executive and am extremely proud of what the organisation has achieved in helping reduce Scotland’s climate emissions and supporting those in fuel poverty. I will miss working with both staff and partners immensely.”

Del Redvers, Chair of the Changeworks Board said: “Teresa has been a terrific leader and champion of change in spearheading the Changeworks mission of making low-carbon living a reality for all.  Under her leadership, Changeworks has developed a vital role in achieving Scotland’s climate goals through a just transition and is well prepared to have an even greater impact in the future. I wish her all the best in her retirement.”

The Changeworks Board are now undertaking and an open and transparent recruitment process for Teresa’s successor.
