Deidre Brock MP visits Changeworks to discuss the future of home decarbonisation

Changeworks welcomed Edinburgh North and Leith MP Deidre Brock to its office today to discuss the decarbonisation of Scotland’s homes and to learn more about our efforts to accelerate Scotland’s move towards net zero.

In a wide-ranging discussion, Changeworks staff presented to Ms Brock – SNP shadow spokesperson for the environment, food and rural affairs – their work in the local area, including providing energy advice to householders and managing the City of Edinburgh Council’s Energy Efficient Scotland: Area-Based Schemes.

They also discussed current issues facing the alleviation of fuel poverty, the decarbonisation of homes and how the UK Government could better support the acceleration of Scotland’s journey to net zero.

Ms Brock said: “I was delighted to visit Changeworks’ office in my constituency this morning. The charity’s work to improve energy efficiency and decarbonise homes across Scotland is absolutely vital, not only in helping to meet our net zero targets but also to support households save on their energy bills amid the cost of living crisis.

“Changeworks’ incredible growth in the past year is testament to the success of its projects with local authorities, housing associations and community groups.

“The charity has led excellent initiatives with communities here in Edinburgh, such as the Zero Waste Leith project, and the Energy Advice Service along with the city council.

“If anyone has questions or concerns about energy efficiency, or their fuel supply, I would recommend getting in touch with Home Energy Scotland, which is delivered by Changeworks in South East Scotland.”
