Changeworks presents at social landlord training event on fuel poverty

Changeworks is a leading partner for social landlords in Scotland on decarbonisation, energy efficiency and fuel poverty, so we were delighted to be asked to speak at an event held by Scottish Housing Associations Resources For Education (SHARE), the learning and development organisation for Scotland’s social housing sector.

The event, which took place yesterday in Glasgow, was a great opportunity for social landlords to hear directly from our Affordable Warmth Services team on the impact of the current cost-of-living crisis and how they can support tenants.

Principal Advisor Liam Kidd delivered the session, looking at getting landlords better informed on the challenges their tenants could be facing and how they could best support them. Engagement is key to this approach, breaking the stigma of discussing fuel poverty and working with tenants to support them to positive outcomes.

As always, we stressed the importance of early intervention in supporting people to live in warmer and easier to heat homes. We are able to tell social landlords exactly what advice tenants want and need from our decades of experience in working to eradicate fuel poverty.

Liam said: ”It was great to talk to social landlords about what they can do to best support their tenants experiencing fuel poverty or difficulty paying their bills. The event was also a really good opportunity for all attendees to here about the great work being done across the country to support tenants. Landlords are a key part of this support for people to be affordable warm in social housing, and Changeworks’ expertise and advice is available to help make this a reality.”

Our Affordable Warmth Services are just one part of our wraparound service to support social landlords and their tenants to live a comfortable, low-carbon life. As social landlords work towards ambitious national targets, our technical teams can help with major projects like retrofits and renewable technology installation, from funding application to follow-up monitoring and evaluation. It’s a unique service, and one with quality and good outcomes for all at its core.
