Third party consent
Anyone who wants to use our services can nominate someone to speak to us on their behalf. This is known as third party consent.
I want to speak to Changeworks on someone else’s behalf
If you want to speak to us on behalf of a family member, friend, or client, we can give general advice without needing their permission. This might include things like energy-saving tips or funding criteria.
For tailored and specific advice, you would need to be a nominated third party.
There are three different ways you can become a third party.
1) Verbal consent
You can call us when you’re with the person, or we can set up a three-way call. Alternatively, if the person calls us themselves to request you as a third party, we can call you to check you’re happy to act on their behalf.
2) Power of attorney
If you have power of attorney (or a similar legal status), you can send a copy of this document to us.
3) Written consent
The person can complete a third party consent form, designating you as the third party. They can send this to us via email or post.
I want someone to speak to Changeworks on my behalf
If you would struggle to talk to us directly, you can give someone else permission to speak to us on your behalf. This is known as “third party consent.” You can choose a family member, friend, or support worker as your third party. Once we’ve received your permission, we can work with the third party to help you.
There are three different ways you can make someone your third party.
1) Verbal consent
You can tell us who you would like your third party to be over the phone. You can either call us when you’re with your third party, or we can set up a three-way call. Alternatively, we can speak with you first, then call the third party to check they’re happy to act on your behalf.
2) Power of attorney
If your third party has power of attorney (or a similar legal status) they can send a copy of this document to us. Once we’ve received this, we can set them up as your third party.
3) Written consent
We can send a third party consent form to you by email or post. Once you’ve completed and returned this form, we can set up your third party.

We will always take the necessary steps to verify that those acting on your behalf are entitled to do so. We will also ask nominated third parties to verify themselves when contacting us and acting on on your behalf. In all situations we will only release appropriate information with third parties.
